Mindlfulness
Mindfulness allows children to take a break and focus on a particular sense without becoming overwhelmed. Studies have shown that when children practice mindfulness, it provides them with a positive state of mind. Little ones are able to experience joy from feeling that they are in control. In addition, teaching children to be mindful can help them, manage anxiety, improve executive function skills,
focus their attention and develop emotional control, which is a main area of executive function. Overall, mindfulness helps your child to "center" themselves.
Student Centered
Student-centered learning refers to instructional strategies that change the emphasis of instruction from the instructor to the student. In this, each child is seen as an individual. Here at CenterEd Learning, much like the name implies, with the help of smaller groups of students, we are able to focus on your child's specific needs. Learning in this way gives each child a voice that is heard and fostered. We are able to learn the interests of your child and incorporate those interests into our learning! In turn, our children are able to better discover, express and challenge themselves. In other words, we are creating leaders!
Art
Exploration and experimentation through art allows children to hone a variety of skills that are useful not just in education but in life! Each time a child manipulates various materials in an organic and unstructured manner they run the possibility of discovering something new around them or about themselves. These self-directed explorations and artistic endeavors allow the children to unravel and have fun while enhancing their fine motor skills, cognitive development and math and language skills.
Music
Listening to and creating music helps children learn numeracy, literacy and emotional skills. Incorporating music into routines and play in the early years has a positive influence on a child's early development. It will get them moving, thinking and encourage creativity. Music therapy can help to improve caregiver/child bonding, teach sharing and cooperative play, increase expressions of empathy and awareness of others and improve peer interaction. Plus, Music is fun!
Movement
We keep our kiddos moving! Movement enhances coordination, social interaction, helps in learning and overall physical health. Encouraging movement ensures a child's involvement and allows for them to be expressive and unencumbered. We incorporate movement in open play as well as in many of our educational activities to make our lesson fun and exciting.
